Add a scanner

Updated 2026-07-21

A scanner is whoever checks guests in at the door — a person on your team, or a named gate like North gate. You set them up once and they scan with the Vibez Scanner, right in their browser.

Add a scanner

  1. Open your event, tap More, then Scanners.
  2. Tap Add scanner.
  3. Enter a Name — a person (Maya Levi) or a position (North gate, VIP gate). This is how the scanner shows up in your reports.
  4. Enter their Phone — pick the country code, then the number.
  5. Tap Add & send SMS.

How they get in

On save, the scanner gets a text with their own link that opens the Vibez Scanner in their browser, already bound to this event — no app to install. They tap it and can scan tickets and tap wristbands at the door, with no setup on their end.

Re-share the link

Need to hand someone the link in person, or send it again? Open the scanner's row and tap Share — copy the link, show a QR code, or use your device's share sheet. The SMS only goes out when you first add the scanner; re-sharing doesn't send another text.

You can add as many scanners as you have gates and staff. Each one's scans show up under their name, so you can see how the door is moving in real time. (Once a scanner has recorded scans it can't be removed — that keeps your door history intact.)

Wristband permissions

Each scanner also carries two NFC permissions, so you decide how much a given person can do with a wristband:

  • NFC check — the scanner can read a wristband's details: the person, their membership, their balance, and their tags. Useful for door staff and for anyone answering "what's on this band?".
  • NFC connect — the scanner can bind an NFC device to a person. This is the one that hands out or re-links a wristband, so give it only to the people running the band desk.

A scanner with neither can still scan tickets. Grant the narrower one if you're unsure — you can change it later.
